'Zing for Your Zupper
After a day-long drive to your favorite vacation
destination, the last thing that you probably want to do is prepare
dinner. This is especially true for me when I arrive in northern
Minnesota, 600 miles from my starting point in Illinois. After arriving,
unpacking, getting settled in the cabin and finally getting my boat into
the water, I am just about out of energy. And I know that the last thing
that I want to think about is getting out on the water to see if I can
catch some fish for dinner. I would prefer to just settle back and
relax. If only someone would prepare dinner for me… But I am only
dreaming – or am I? Is there someone who has thought about my needs and
has a variety of diner choices available?
The answer is yes, and the name is ALaZing
. Of
course, I have long been familiar with the quality steaks, pork chops,
chicken and pasta dishes that are delivered right to my door. They come
packaged in a foam container, complete with dry ice to keep them frozen,
fresh and ready to prepare. And UPS will deliver them to anywhere you
request.
So, when Heidi suggested that we have a diner for two
delivered to our destination in Northern Minnesota, I thought: “Why not?”
We decided to try the bacon-wrapped pork chop dinner for two, accompanied
by a mushroom sauce, roasted potatoes and a vegetable medley. The best
part was that there was almost no prep work necessary. We simply
defrosted the contents of the boxes and fired up my little gas grill.
While we waited for the grill to heat, we enjoyed a martini and some
conversation about where we were going to go fishing tomorrow. The
meal was quickly prepared, plated and was ready to enjoy. And enjoy we
did. This was a major improvement in the “arrival day ritual” that we
usually suffer through… and certainly better than going out to eat on the
first night at the cabin.
So, as a suggestion for something new and different
to try, you might want to consider having an ALaZing dinner delivered to
your door. It worked for me after a long drive north. (And I know it has
worked after a long day at the office.) In any case, I know that that
this sounds like a paid commercial – it’s not. It is just something that
I had not thought about – until my most recent vacation. I liked how it
worked out, and I am betting that you will too! The only thing that I
would suggest is that you confirm in advance – either by email or even a
phone call – the delivery date. That way, your meals will be sure to
arrive at your desired time.
As always, I hope to
see you On
the Lake!
