Lake (West End) Most
lake names in Northern Minnesota pay homage to the Native Americans.
Vermilion is no different. It was known to the Chippewa as the "Lake of
the Sunset Glow." Perhaps the name is the result of the fire-red horizon
at sundown, perhaps the result of the incredible displays of aurora
borealis. Whatever the case, the billions of stars sparkling like diamonds
in the night time sky will leave you breathless. Whether you prefer
fishing, boating, hiking, berry-picking, birding or just plain relaxing,
Lake Vermilion is a great place for a great vacation!

Filleting Smallmouth Bass
I'm convinced that there is no "easy" way to fillet a smallmouth
bass (Micropterus
dolomieu)- at least I have never
observed a way that is any easier than the way I learned. And
one of the major problems is the result of the incredibly thick
bones of the rib cage. |
