It says so, right on the state license
plate. But if you don’t believe that, take a look at a map. They
don’t call it the "Land Of 10,000 Lakes"
for nothing! Everywhere you look there seems to be another lake.
Almost all of them are easily accessible and within a day’s drive, or
less, of northern Indiana, Illinois, and Iowa.
Practically every lake has a resort, lodge or campgrounds.
If you’ve never been to Minnesota, you owe it to yourself and
your family to go there for a vacation.
From Grand Forks to Grand Marais.
From Rochester to Red Lake.
From Winona to Warroad. Minnesota’s
got something for everyone… in all four seasons. So make your plans and explore
Minnesota!

stepping across the Mississippi River at Itasca State Park (where the
Mississippi actually begins), and where so many other marvelous memories
were born... |

snow skiing and more! |
 |
Cook
(West end of Lake Vermilion)
It was known to the Chippewa as
the "Lake of the Sunset Glow." Perhaps the name is the result of the
fire-red horizon at sundown, perhaps the result of the incredible
displays of aurora borealis. Lake Vermilion is a great place for a great
vacation! |
 |

Park, the Canadian border and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, this is the

edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and the Superior
National Forest. |
 |
International Falls (Rainy
River and Rainy Lake)
Rainy Lake is, arguably, one of the finest walleye fisheries in the
country. And Rainy also has its fair share of numerous other game
fish. However, it isn’t just the fishing that brings countless thousands
of visitors to the area every year. Every one of the four seasons is a
taste treat for every one of your senses. |
 |
Kabetogama
At 25,000
acres, Kabetogama is gigantic by most standards and dotted with hundreds
of beautiful islands. With its giant and ancient stands of pine trees,

scenery and wildlife, it is immediately both wild and serene. |

If you can imagine a portion of the north woods that
boasts over one thousand lakes and twenty-four towns, you can imagine a
very beautiful part of this country: the Ottertail Area of western
Minnesota. It also includes the town of Otter Tail (population 451 in
the 2000 census), as well as the county that goes by the same name. |

It

logs were floated down the St. Croix River through Stillwater. The
lumber industry flourished for nearly half a century… and eventually
moved on, but the area continued to thrive.

 |
Tower

Vermilion, like most lake names in
Northern Minnesota, pays homage to the Native Americans. It was known to
