Lake Geneva, Wisconsin
From the time that I was old
enough to sit on my mother’s lap and steer the ’52 3-speed Chevy, I
remember the summer trips to Lake Geneva. Back then, it took only
about 45-50 minutes to get there from the Fox River Valley area of
Illinois. I remember a 4-way stop in Hebron and that was about it –
except for a slowing through Woodstock. There were never any other
cars on the road and the drive was easy and fun...Read more

Resort in Lake Geneva
Sometimes, a short excursion is better than no
excursion at all. And so, at the end of a very long week, Heidi
and I decided to head a short distance north to one of our favorite
dinner venues: a small restaurant on the shores of Lake Como... |

Your Boat

if I knew that a boat was defined as a hole in the water, into which

About Lake Geneva, Wisconsin
(cont.)
Sometimes we
would invite the neighbors. And my mom, sister, me and two other friends
would head for Bigfoot beach. I continued to go to the Lake right through
high school – by then I was able to legally drive myself. There was more
traffic of course, but the drive was still easy, and the day at the lake
was as fun as ever, since it now included water skiing as well as
swimming.
Unfortunately, the traffic has gotten pretty heavy between where I
now live and the Lake, but its easy to get there and I still love to
make the trip. Now I bring my own boat; I still ski and swim, and
now I can fish too. I am grateful that I can still enjoy Lake
Geneva. A lot of the same places that I knew as a kid are still
there, and it is as fun as ever. It’s a four-season area, and there
are plenty of summer and winter activities available, as well as
great venues for shopping and dining. It’s a great destination –
whether for a weekend or a week.
