Rhinelander, Wisconsin
Just south of
the expansive Nicolet Forest, Rhinelander is located in the heart of
Oneida County in Northeastern Wisconsin. When I think of Rhinelander, I
am immediately brought back to 1960, when I attended a small Christian
camp near there. Named HoneyRock, it was located on the shores of Long
Lake, near the village of Three Lakes. It seemed like it took forever
to get there. Although it was a marvelous experience I shall never
forget, I have never been back to HoneyRock. I have however, been back
to Rhinelander, as well as several other small towns nearby. The area
is still as beautiful and pristine as it was then – it’s just easier to
get there now.
Thick pine and
hardwood forests, small creeks meandering through cedar lowlands, and old
railroad beds from the 1860’s trains that accessed the area – great for
biking, hiking, snowmobiling or cross country skiing – are only a small
part of what the Rhinelander area is all about. Great fishing is
abundant… as is the wildlife, and there is ample opportunity to canoe and
swim in the many clear, cool lakes, golf on the meticulously manicured
golf courses that seem to be everywhere, or just relax in the shade of the
ancient forests. The entire Rhinelander area is a wonderful destination…
and a great place to vacation.

Annual St. Germain, Greater Wisconsin Musky Tournament, and Berghoff
was the Tournament Sponsor for the second straight year. A
contest was held to become the official Berghoff Musky Hunter Team...Read
