Stevens Point
& Nokomis
Returning from a trip north to visit a friend in Mercer, Wisconsin
two years ago, Heidi and I were detoured on the way back home due to
some road construction. The route took us through the small town of
Nokomis and past Lake Nokomis. The detour was an easy and painless one,
and it took us through some very scenic areas... (10/07)

Filleting
Walleye
When I was about 10 years old, my father took
me fishing in Ontario to a place called Lac de Milles Lacs. It was
some of the best walleye fishing I have ever seen. More importantly,
I saw my first walleye cleaned and filleted by a family friend who
was also on the trip. Ray was as fast with a fillet knife as anyone

Area Fishing Report
December 27, 2007
Walleye fishing as of late has been quite good,
with quality marble-eyes providing good action all night long!
The key of late seems to be staying mobile as the hot bites
continue to move from night to night. Last night was no
exception as we again scored on a fine catch of 'eyes from the
Big Eau Pleine ranging from 15 1/2" on up - the largest being
22", 25", and 26"! Frabill tip-ups rigged with Mustad hooks and
golden shiners or sucker minnows have been the ticket once
location has been determined. The bite has been quite shallow
after dark for the most part with our largest fish last night
again coming from only 3' of water.
Tight lines,
